Xiao became involved with TV through another fashion and beauty cornerstone, Cosmo…via Cosmo TV. On Cosmo TV, Sun worked with famed TV personality/Hair & Makeup artist/beauty & style expert Paul Venoit. Mr. Venoit was so taken with Xiao’s performance that he conscripted her to work with another fashion mainstay. He explains, “The shoot with Cosmo TV went so well that I brought Xiao on board for an Asian Beauty shoot I was working on for Vogue Italia, which is one of the most prominent fashion publications in the world. The Vogue Asian Beauty series is a part of the acclaimed Vogue Beauty project (there are also Black Beauty and Vivi Le French Beauty series), which shows that beauty is simple and diverse.”
Those who don’t know Xiao’s background might see her quick ascension to success as the benefits of a pretty face, but when you consider her 10 years of ballet and classical dance which led to her work as a dancer at Cirque du Soleil’s show Amaluna, her tri-lingual abilities (English, Chinese, and French) which have led to her acting work in both English and French cinema, and the fact that she relocated from China to pursue her career…Xiao Sun is the very definition of the quote, “Success is when preparation meets opportunity.” Xiao was chosen by “Asians on Films” in 2015 as one of the top ten actresses to watch. Her acclaimed role in Les 3 P’tits Cochons and its success seems to be proof that this group knows exactly what they are talking about.
